I love Seattle (Again)
I’ve lived here for over a decade, but lately I’ve just been feeling… stuck? Like I wasn’t really doing anything or appreciating the city. This guide gave me new eyes! I’ve gone on hikes I didn’t even know existed, tried new restaurants, taken ferry rides — stuff I would’ve never done without the guidance of this book." -Jennifer N.★★★★★

We built this book so you could spend more time drinking margaritas and less time Googling.
Here’s how it makes planning easy:
▵ No guesswork – Itineraries, packing lists, and mapped-out neighborhoods mean you know exactly what to do, where to go, and how much it’ll cost.
▵ Built-in safety – We wrote this like we were writing it for our little sister. Safety is always top of mind.
▵ Real recs, not paid ads – Every spot is either girl-tested or girl-approved by us or our community. No BS.
▵ Local + traveler insight – Co-written by Alexa (travel pro) and Emilia (Mexican local)—so you get both the questions and the answers.
▵ Ask us anything – Once you’ve got the book, we’re just a DM away. You’re not just a reader. You’re part of the crew.

Suitable for first-time travelers?
100%. Whether it’s your first solo trip or your tenth, this guide walks you through everything—step-by-step.

Who's Are The Authors?

I’m Alexa West—bestselling author, travel expert, and founder of The Solo Girl’s Travel Guide. I come to Puerto Vallarta once a year—for the beaches, the food, the festivals…and yes, to get my hair done, nails fixed, and soul reset with a damn good massage. I’ve hosted group trips here, explored every corner, and built this guide to help you feel confident, safe, and excited from day one.

Emilia Igartua is my ride-or-die.
She’s a Mexicana born in Mazatlán with roots in Mexico City—a photographer, painter, and cultural storyteller. She brings the local knowledge, I ask the dumb questions—and together, we made sure this guide gives you the best of both worlds: the traveler and the local.
Together, we wrote this book to help you travel on your budget -- with just the right amount of tacos, massages and beaches.

GabyVerified BuyerWay more than a travel guide! Alexa is a paradigm changer. This book is wonderful. The way it's written, the information and tools and advise like QR codes and links to important recourses like insurance companies are invaluable. However what I love most about this book is the author.Alexa West does not just write books, she creates community through her work. Just check out her FB groups and jump into a world of supportive amazing women around the world....Girls in Bali, girls in global, Girls in Puerto Vallarta. All places to find information about the area, meet new friends and learn. This is not a book. It's a small piece of a massive movement to empower women to take charge of their power to explore the world and grow to be their best selves.I am a huge fan and look forward to seeing more of the world through her eyes!Puerto Vallarta Was this helpful? 0 0

SavannahVerified BuyerGreat Travel BookI have read many travel books and I enjoyed this one a lot. I am hesitant to go to Mexico as a single female. I did a group tour in December (2022) and loved it and had so much fun. It took away some of my fears for safety. What I like about this book is that the author totally gets what it is actually like to travel solo. Like pointing out restaurants where you won’t feel out of place being solo. I hate eating alone and try to pick places with bars, or live music, or where I can people watch and feel comfortable and not out of place, or have people staring at me because I am the only person dining alone in the entire restaurant. I also worry about transportation because sometimes a bus takes too long or you don’t quite trust a taxi or Uber driver but I really like the recommendations that she gives to use certain people and places to go and what you shouldn’t probably do alone, like certain hiking paths, because safety IS a huge issue and only a fellow female solo traveler truly understands how scary it is to travel alone in a foreign country. Reading her book, I feel confident I could now plan a trip to this region and be fine. Before reading this, not so much. I hope that you do more books on other parts of Mexico in the future.Puerto Vallarta Was this helpful? 14 1

AVerified BuyerGreat, quick guidebook for womenI enjoyed this book. I was coming to Banderas Bay for the first time with my in laws. They’ve been here tons but I haven’t. This book is a quick read (in terms of how it flows and is written, fun and snappy) and very applicable for woman. My only qualm is I’m a mom and a wife, so it wasn’t 100% relatable. But not really the books fault, I saw it was a solo girl’s guide. Alexa, if you have any fun mom friends who want to throw in tips, I won’t hate you for it! 🤣 Jokes aside, still felt more relatable than any other travel guide I have perused. I don’t think I’ve fully read another one.Puerto Vallarta Was this helpful? 0 0
