Our Story
Once upon a time...
An American traveler named Alexa West was kissing a hot swedish guy on a beach in Cambodia when her purse was stolen! After traveling the world full time for 6 years...she was fed up with the guidebooks written for men (that didnt warn her about the ninja children purse snatchers).
So, she decided that - on behalf of solo female travelers -- she would write the damn guidebooks herself.

The Solo Girl's Travel Guide
✍️ She Wrote the Damn Book(s)
At my little house in the jungles of Thailand, I spiraled into a vortex—thinking about every problem women face while traveling.
The creepy cab driver.
The “trusted” hostel that didn’t feel safe.
The panic of getting lost, sick, or stuck—with no one to call and no backup plan.
No safety info. No real advice. Just a list of museums and hotels. I wanted more.

and now?
Since that first book...
The Solo Girl’s Travel Guide has achieved wild things like...
- Sold 30,000 copies
- Built a community of 150,000+ solo female travelers
- Hosted six group trips for women (more coming at GlowUpTravel.com)
- Been featured on Curb Your Ethusiasm!
- Won awards, like the Wanderful Award for empowering women in travel!
- And outsold our very biggest competitors who failed us to begin with.
We don’t just write guidebooks. We build sisterhoods.
Now, you can get The Solo Girl's Travel Guide books in your pocket.5

Then I met Emilia.
She began as a reader when she bought my Bali Guidebook in 2020.
Now she’s my best friend, co-owner, and the brilliant designer behind everything you see.
We host women’s trips together, write books together, and even have a podcast called True Crime Travelers.
But more than that—we send each other 10,000 hours of daily voice notes, swap recipes, and talk about magic, manifesting, and the kind of world we want to create for women in travel.
She lives in Spain, I live in Seattle. We meet up in Bali sometimes. Or Mexico for Christmas. Maybe Spain is next.
And across oceans, The Solo Girl's Travel Guide is written, designed, and created by just us -- two girls and two laptops. That’s it. That’s the magic.
