Just a 2.5 hour plane ride from Los Angeles is this...

Meet Your Host

Hi, I’m Alexa West — founder of The Solo Girl’s Travel Guide, and this will be the eighth women-only trip I’ve created and hosted around the world. By the time this trip ends, I’ll have taken over 89 incredible women on these adventures.

This is my purpose in life...to take women out of their comfort zones and reconnect with themselves. (my ayahuasca journey told me so - ask me later).

Women need adventure just as much as they need deep, real female friendships. We need places where we can exhale, laugh until we cry, swim in oceans with whales, and remember who the hell we are — without the noise of the outside world.

This isn’t just a vacation. This is a reset. A sisterhood. A celebration.

I can’t wait to meet you. 🫶

xoxo, Alexa

The Itinerary

Women-Only Bucket List Trip in Mexico (Jan 27- Feb 1, 2026)

This is a dream trip for me… and I want to share it with you.

We’re talking glamping by the sea, swimming with whales, and dancing under Baja stars with 14 incredible women. This is six days of barefoot luxury in Baja Sur — from boutique hotels and happy hour in the desert to face-to-face encounters with mama gray whales and their calves (yes, really).

Todos Santos

Day 1

Welcome to Mexico!
We’ll pick you up at the San José del Cabo airport and drive you 90 minutes to Todos Santos, where your new friends are waiting!

Settle into your oceanview room at Los Colibris Casitas...and get ready for a night of Mexican food, margaritas and maybe dancing? (I mean, we're in MEXICO!)

Magdelena Bay

Day 2-4

Beach Life Begins!
We'll road trip (with Mexican snacks) 3 hours north to Magdalena Bay and our luxury tent camp Camp Cecil de la Bahia. The camp is located on a sliver of land with the Bay and the gray whales on one side, and a protected estuary with mangroves, abundant birdlife, dolphins and more on the other.

Each year the gray whales migrate 6,000 miles from arctic waters to the Pacific lagoons of the Baja peninsula to mate, give birth, and enjoy a warm winter respite. Magdalena Bay is one of the most important of these lagoons, and Camp Cecil de la Bahia is one of the best whale watching spots in all of Baja. Whales are simply everywhere!

We'll spend the days out on the water interacting with the amazing gray whale mothers, babies and sporting males, and when not with the whales we can explore the incredible birdlife of the mangrove estuary. It is a dreamy, wild and remote spot, completely ensconced in nature, enhanced by delights of great food and comfortable lodging.

Todos Santos

Day 5

Whales, Margaritas & Mexican Magic

We’ll soak in one last morning with the whales before heading back toward Todos Santos, stopping for a celebratory lunch en route.

Tonight, we go out with a bang: a private farewell dinner + Mexican Survival Cooking Class led by Iker Algorri — local legend, chef, lawyer, and author of Cooking Adventures in Baja California Sur.

Think: handcrafted margaritas, sunset views, good music, and dancing under the stars. And if we feel like heading into town to get a little wild… so be it.

Home Time

Day 6

Depart — or Stay a Little Longer 🧳☀️

It’s time to say goodbye… or not! While your included transport will take you back to the airport today, many girls on past trips choose to stay a few extra days — either solo or with their new trip besties. Baja has so much more to explore, and this part is totally up to you.

I’m here to help — whether you want a solo adventure, a beach hotel rec, or tips for exploring Todos Santos.

Whales in the Wild

January in Baja is pure whale magic — it’s peak gray whale season in Magdalena Bay, where thousands of whales migrate 6,000 miles from the Arctic to give birth in warm, shallow lagoons.

This is when the mama whales are calm and the newborn calves are playful!

What you’ll likely experience in Magdalena Bay:

  • Gray whale mothers bring their babies right up to the boat to say hello
  • Gray whale babies present themselves for a good rub or a pat
  • Gray whale males sidle along the boat and spout water on us – they clearly   think it´s very funny
  • Gray whales of all types bring their huge heads out of the water and look us straight in the eye

Girlfriend, this will trip will reset your soul.
  • 🛎️ Airport Pick-Up and Drop Off

No stress. From the moment you land, you'll be in good hands. We'll meet you at the airport and bring you to the hotel!

  • 🛎️ 2 Nights in Boutique Hotel

The first and last night are spent at the stunning oceanside Los Colibris Boutique Hotel with a pool (and margaritas).

  • ⛺ 3 Nights at Luxury Whale Camp

Glamp on the edge of Magdalena Bay in beachfront safari-style tents with real beds and daily happy hour. (crashing waves = best sleep ever)

  • 🐋 Gray Whale Encounters

Head out in boats to witness mama whales and their babies—up close, eye-to-eye, heart-to-heart.

  • 🍽️ All Meals + Happy Hours

From the welcome taco dinner to sunset camp feasts—everything’s covered (including drinks!).

  • 🎉 Mexican Cooking Class + Farewell Party

The best souvenir? Cooking skills! Get hands-on in the kitchen and dance with your new sisters under the stars.

  • 🧠 Expert Naturalist Guides

Our bilingual guides are certified Wilderness First Responders and absolute whale nerds (in the best way).

  • 💬 Group Planning + Support

We plan together in a private Facebook group, hop on a group call before takeoff, and Alexa’s here to help you book flights and prep like a pro.

    Every woman should do this
I am forever grateful for my experience on this Glow Up trip!! It was everything I could have hoped for and exactly what I didn’t even know I needed! I had no idea that I would walk away from this journey with so many amazing friendships and memories. Alexa and Emi went above and beyond to make sure we all had the best time. Their hard work and dedication is unmatched and to say this experience was life changing would be an understatement!

    great way to travel "solo"
Though this experience took out all of the stress of planning and executing the actual trip by one’s self… it made me realize how easy it really can be to travel internationally. I hope this trip is the first of many outside of the US in my future.

one hundred percent would do this trip again!
I knew the trip would be life-changing so I jumped at the opportunity to sign up. I had an absolute blast and cried when it was time to go home. Amazingly (through a brilliant application process!) our girls group really bonded. At the beginning of the trip, we were all strangers getting to know one another, but by the end of the trip, we had become sisters. We got to experience so many amazing things while in Puerto Vallarta!! From zip-lining, taco food truck tours, beach hoping, sky diving, massages, making margaritas and relaxing around the pool. BUT the absolute BEST part was at the end of the catamaran trip, while discussing where we were having our last dinner all together, we decided to get MATCHING TATTOOS! What this trip taught me was that it’s okay to always dream big and not to settle for anything less than what I deserve. I learned that traveling solo is good for the soul and I’m looking forward to marking off more destinations from my bucket list. I would absolutely one hundred percent would do this trip again! I can’t wait to see what trip I’ll go on next.

I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
I knew from Lexi's guide books and social media presence that I was in good hands, but this trip was beyond my expectations. The river adventure was amazing - 5 days off grid with incredible women from all over the US (and NZ!) who love travel and adventure - almost all attending on their own. We bonded over fun games and activities led by Lexi, deep talks on the beach, goofy laughs in the raft... on top of all that, there was plenty of time and space to go off and chill on your own if that's what you're looking for. This was truly a soul reset. The Momentum guides took such good care of us and brought such good energy to the group as well - we were served breakfast, lunch, dinner and happy hour snacks, each day when we arrived at camp our tents and group hang spot were set up for us, and they coached the adventurous ones through white water kayaking and kept the group rafts incredibly safe and fun. All of this took place on the incredible Rogue River in Oregon, with perfect weather, very few bugs, bear and bald eagle sightings, and dazzling night skies. I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

My second rafting trip with Alexa :)
Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better than the first, it did. Five days on the river cracked me wide open in the best way. There was adventure and laughter, yes, but also tears, truth, and the kind of realness you just can’t fake. Alexa doesn’t over-curate; she creates just enough structure for us to feel held, then leaves space for the wildness, the messiness, and the magic of being fully ourselves. It takes a certain kind of woman to say yes to the wilderness with 11 strangers. And what I’ve found is those women are exactly the ones I want in my life; brave, hilarious, open-hearted, and unafraid to go deep. This wasn’t just a trip, it was a reminder of who I am and the kind of connections I want to keep choosing. Life-changing, again.

to anyone thinking about going - just do it
Coming off 6 days on the Salmon River I can’t help but feel so grateful to Lexi for coordinating this girls trip. My soul is refreshed and my sense of adventure has been restored. From the beginning planning stages, Lexi made me feel super comfortable and confident in her recent experiences with Momentum River Expeditions, their guides, and the trip we were going to be experiencing. She (and they) definitely delivered - rafting, kayaking, camping, hot springs, hikes, historical homesteads, bridge jumping, sunbathing, sleeping under a blanket of stars, thrilling rapids, delicious food, incredible women and 4 outstanding river guides I trusted with my life.I walked away with a piece of that river permanently in my heart, with new friendships, and a new appreciation for a warm, hot shower! I would highly recommend a trip like this to anyone thinking about going - just do it - it may just change your life.

    everything I didn’t know I needed
I can honestly say that this trip healed my soul. I haven’t laughed that hard since middle school! Alexa’s river rafting trip in Oregon was —amazing food, breathtaking nature, and the best group of people I’ve ever met. Unplugging from the world and connecting with such incredible humans was beyond healing. I’m officially hooked and plan to go river rafting with Alexa every summer. All humans need to experience this kind of magic!
