Mexico...Like A Local

Emilia, our Creative Director, is Mexican. Like a real ass Mexican - born and raised in Mazatlan. She has opened my world when it comes to exploring a side to Mexico that is usually invisible to tourists. Together, she and I write travel guides to Mexico - and this will be your first taste of what it's like to see a mixed perspective of an Americana and a Mexicana...

WHERE TO GO

Our Favorite Mexico Destinations

📍 Mexico City: Think of it as the New York of Latin America: sprawling, dynamic, and full of contrasts. Start your day with tacos at a neighborhood market and end it with a seven-course tasting menu at one of the world’s top restaurants. Mexico City is a place to be explored through bites and flavors.

📍 Puerto Vallarta: Skip the all-inclusive bubble and dive into the real magic: wander the cobblestone streets, hop on a panga boat to hidden waterfalls, or spot whales from a catamaran.

📍 Baja Sur: Untamed and unforgettable. Paddle alongside wild dolphins, snorkel with sea lions, even swim with sharks. The best way to experience it? Rent a car and road trip your way through.

📍 Oaxaca: Mexico’s cultural heart. Vibrant markets, ancient ruins, mezcal straight from the source, and some of the best food in the entire country. From mole to tlayudas, this is where Mexico’s flavors and traditions run deepest.

MEXICAN FOOD 101

Mexican Food Pro Tips

🌶️ Test Every Salsa: Drop a little bit of salsa on the top of your hand and lick it to test the heat before your pour it all over your taco.

⚠️ Spicy Alert: If a server tells you it's not really spicy...chances are it will more likely be spicy!

🥃 Test Tequila:
If you pour a little tequila into your palms, rub them together, and they turn sticky — bad news. That’s a sign you’ve got low-quality tequila on your hands… and a hangover in your future.

🌮 Street Food Rule: The longer the line at a taco stand, the better the food. Locals know where the magic is — follow them.
